Supporting you to maintain your independence
Is Home Care right for me?
Home care (or domiciliary care) covers everything from washing up, right through to just short of nursing care and everything in between!
Ultimately it is whatever you need it to be in order for you to live happily and comfortably at home, maintaining your independence and unique way of doing things.
Chantel is lovely, always polite, caring, attentive and fun. She sorts the care plan and informs us of the changes. Dad's carers are always happy, fun, attentive and will sit and play board games and read through his memory book with him.
Some people only need support with light housework, perhaps some company or help in the bath or shower. Equally others need more help from us in a range of areas including medication, infirmity, illness and mobility and we can help with all these things!
Our Care Assistants are not only lovely but also trained in a wide range of areas and have been helping people across the borough in similar circumstances for many years.
I know I have said it before but I just want to say again just how much I appreciate Bluebird's help. The carers are wonderful and also a big thank you to all the staff at the office who work hard to make things happen behind the scenes. I really don't know how I would manage without your help.
How does it work?
Once you call us, we will arrange to come and have a chat with you to find out how we might help you. You tell us what support would make the difference to you and between us we’ll come up with a plan. If you agree, we’ll choose and introduce you to your carer and then go from there, tweaking along the way as and when we need to.
You shouldn’t be embarrassed if a part of what you need is personal care although we know it’s only natural to feel so. If that person becomes a trusted friend and it means you can maintain much of your independence and stay living at home, then it’s worth it…and nothing to be embarrassed about.
Here are some suggestions of the things we could help with:
Helping you start the day; getting up, washed, dressed and breakfasted
Support with medication; reminding and assisting you in taking medicines, as well as collect or return medication
- Mealtime; preparing meals with or for you and assisting at mealtimes
- Outings including pension collection, shopping lists and shopping, either for you or together and then home again to put it all away
- Household; help with your laundry or ironing and keep your home clean and tidy
- Social outings; support you with social activities like going out for a walk, attending a day centre, visiting friends or family or going to your church or club
- Personal care; bathing, showering and toileting, clean clothes, fresh bedding and a thoughtfully prepared meal before bedtime
- Good night and help into bed
I unhesitatingly recommend Bluebird Care - their care is outstanding.
