Live-in dementia care at home

Our Bluebirds are here to support the journey

If you've met one person with dementia, you've met one person with dementia.

Dementia is a journey, and each journey is unique. Life on a dementia ward in a residential care facility does not compare with one-on-one specialist support from our Bluebirds.

From diagnosis to death, our live-in care supports you or your loved one with specialist dementia care. From the use of dementia clocks and the colour red to safeguarding every day independence, you can expect our Live-In Care Assistants to have a complete understanding of your particular diagnosis.

For those with dementia, the importance of familiar surroundings takes on new meaning.

When it is no longer safe or comfortable to live at home alone, live-in care is a low-stress and cost effective way to ensure life at home can carry on and you can continue to live how you want, where you want, for as long as you want.

We believe that it’s vital to work with our customers to keep them physically and mentally active and engaged. We do this by paying attention to all aspects of our customers' well-being:

  • We promote and encourage choice in everything we do. Too often, people with a diagnosis of dementia experience the loss of choice. We fiercely safeguard this key element of independence.
  • Not every Live-In Care Assistant can support a customer with dementia. We carefully select and train each dementia specialist to ensure they have the very best techniques and highest level of ability.
  • We work closely with occupational therapists, physical therapists, GPs, mental health teams, healthcare and third sector organisations to co-ordinate day to day healthcare needs.
  • Your handpicked Care Assistant works with you, your family, your Customer Care Manager and our supervisors to develop a programme of activities that you will thoroughly enjoy.
  • Your carer will support a safe, approved set of exercises, appropriate to your physical ability.
  • Where required, we work with the person’s spiritual or religious network to ensure that they continue to receive the pastoral care they need. Many of our live-in care customers enjoy regular Sunday services, accompanied by their carer.
  • Industry-leading oversight ensures your complete satisfaction.
  • Should you near end of life, we provide calm, reassuring support that focuses firmly on your wishes and the right to end your journey at home, on your terms, in peace and with dignity.
