Managing Director and Owner
Like most people I didn’t have an understanding of the care industry until a family member required care. At this point our family faced huge challenges in finding the right solution which was flexible and that we could trust.
Trying to arrange this at short notice and being involved with care companies that didn’t have a customer service ethos highlighted the issues that people and families face in a similar situation, that’s when I thought ‘there must be a way to do this better’.
Although I have a legal and professional services background, somehow I’ve always been involved in looking after people and trying to help them improve their lives. After completing my law degree, I started my career working for a human rights NGO in New Delhi, India. Our team advised the Government on the implementation of the Right to Information Act with the aim to give over a billion people the right to challenge corruption and give transparency in where their money was being spent. This was an amazing and transformational experience and even though you can find me online with credits to the contribution of that Act, I always wanted to be more hands on and changing people’s lives on a daily basis, not just on a policy level.
Running Bluebird Richmond & Twickenham really is about changing people’s lives. We support people to remain as independent as possible whilst at their most vulnerable. We are rewarded with so much positive feedback as we help turn customer’s lives around. They discover the possibilities of being able to live life as fully and independently as possible. We help our customers face a huge range of health challenges including stroke, brain injury, MS, Parkinson’s and people living with all forms of dementia along with other neurological conditions.
Our care is unique, it goes beyond the task based care that many companies offer. We look at how we can enhance and extend people’s lives, offering therapeutic, nutritional, or lifestyle services based around their wants and needs, not just ticking off tasks.
We are exacting about who we employ and we spend a huge amount of time and effort in getting the right staff to deliver our service. Those who do make the grade are given training, support and ongoing development that exceeds any other home care company in London. For me it is about doing the simple things right. We communicate well with our customers and create an honest and open relationship. We give customers the same care staff on a daily basis so that they can build good relationships, we turn up on time and we do everything we can for the people we care for to enable them to achieve their outcomes.
For me the most important ethos of our company is to provide care that we would be happy to give to our own families. We need to build and maintain trust and be flexible to change our service in accordance with our customer’s needs. Most of all we need to be caring and have an empathic nature in everything we do.
Managing Director and Owner
Tim Rowland-Jones studied Business Management at University before going to work in the family business. Experience in staff management and customer service has helped Tim develop the Bluebird Care office.
Like many other people, his first real experience of the care industry came at a time when his own grandfather who suffered from dementia was admitted to a residential home. The care he went on to receive was of a particularly high standard, and this served as an inspiration and as the driving force behind his involvement with Bluebird Care.
Tim is now particularly passionate about caring for people living with dementia and dedicates much of his spare time volunteering at local day centres and the Royal United Hospital in Bath, spending time and ‘befriending’ people with dementia.
Registered Care Manager
I started my journey in the care sector over 20 years ago after a friend introduced me to a private nursing home.
My husband was at the end of his military service in the army, so we relocated to London, and I moved my role to a local nursing home.
After gaining plenty of experience in a care home, I tried my hand at domiciliary care and loved it so much; I never looked back. The career opportunities were endless, and my many promotions resulted in my first management position in 2008 covering the Richmond area.
I expanded my knowledge by working with various providers covering many of Londons' local authorities and gaining experience in children's complex needs, autism, dementia, adult mental health, learning difficulties, live-in care, and overseeing the operations in care homes.
I have gained a variety of collections of certificates over the years and have completed my Diploma 5, which is a recognised qualification for a Registered Manager.
Ten years ago, my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, which has given me a personal insight into care.
I always aim to promote the vision and values of the company, along with striving to gain success in the community by promoting personalised care to the customers' needs, sometimes thinking outside the box to be able to complete this.
Bluebird Care has given me this opportunity to come back to Richmond and continue my passion for care.
Office Operations Manager
I have led the recruitment and media teams for Bluebird Care Richmond & Twickenham for over 8 years.
At Bluebird Care Richmond & Twickenham, we provide all the tools and support needed to kick start a successful care journey with us. People relations is my passion, and I enjoy giving people the opportunity to start a new career in the health and social care sector, especially in a great place such as Bluebird Care.
We aim to train and provide outstanding service to our customers. This is why it is my priority is to recruit the highest quality of carers. I ensure that this is delivered by supporting our carers and providing them with excellent in-house training by a certified training manager.
I first joined Bluebird Care Richmond & Twickenham in 2015 as a Training Manager, later progressing as a Registered Manager before taking a short hiatus and returning as Training Manager in September 2021.
I have over 30 years of experience in the Health and Social care sector, which begun as a Care Assistant for Richmond Social Services. I advanced to various roles throughout my career, including Assistant Manager, Registered Manager, and later returning to my passion as a Training Manager.
I hope to provide carers with meaningful, relevant training and learning opportunities. I have a particular interest in Safeguarding & Dementia Care. I've achieved many occupational qualifications and awards, such as; Registered Managers Award, NVQ 4 in Care, A1 Award & CTTLS.
Something about me? One of my favourite things to do is roll up my trousers, walk along the shore and have a paddle in the sea, whatever the weather!
As the Marketing Manager for Bluebird Care Richmond & Twickenham, my role is to create, implement and manage all marketing aspects.
I have been in the care industry for over two years, following a career within the events marketing sector. With over five years of marketing experience and educated to a degree level, I believe I have finally found my passion within the care sector. I am excited about applying my skills and knowledge to support and source new and existing customers.
I love highlighting all the fantastic work the Bluebird Care staff are doing for the company. Our carers are extremely dedicated and hard-working, and it's a rewarding role to give them the recognition they deserve.
