We are so excited to announce that Bluebird Care are the first care company in the locality to offer the support for High Flow Nasal Cannula Therapy. 

High Flow Nasal Cannula Therapy is used as a combination of Oxygen and Air to help provide a more comfortable alternative to the more traditional Ventilation therapy's. This allows those individuals to Eat, Talk and attend mouthcare needs at ease, compared to the more invasive CPAP masks. 

The benefits of  High Flow Nasal Cannula Therapy are:

• Better clearance of fluids (secretions) due to humidified air.
• Better tolerated and more comfortable.
• Easier to communicate during therapy.
• Easier to eat and drink during therapy.
• Less mouth dryness.
• Reduced airway inflammation.

Currently this is being used on our End of Life pathway in Newcastle with the potential to expand into the different localities. Well done to all the care staff who have had their training already!
