Please join us in congratulating Victoria Holdsworth, a care assistant with Bluebird Care (Leeds North) for being shortlisted as a finalist in the Yorkshire and Humberside Care Awards in the category of Dementia Carer.

Victoria was nominated for the outstanding work she has done with one of our customers who had advanced dementia. The customer was admitted to hospital and as she had no family or friends she was confused and distressed. Victoria visited regularly in her own time and even took the customer’s clothes home to wash and brought her some bits to the hospital to make her feel at home, such as the type of orange squash she likes and magazines to sit and read with her. With Victoria’s help the customer settled in hospital and was much happier. She has since recovered and returned to her own home.
 
Victoria and all the other shortlisted finalists have to attend an interview in October and there is an awards dinner to look forward to in November.
 
All of the team here are immensely proud of Victoria and feel she is very deserving of being a finalist. Her dedication and compassion reflect the ethos of all the team here and the quality of the care we strive to provide.
