The prestigious Home Care Awards are the benchmark for business and service excellence in the UK home care sector. This year, the awards ceremony will take place on 9th June, subject to Covid-19 restrictions. Bluebird Care Leeds North was nominated in the Innovation Technology Expertise category for their pioneering approach utilising digital and artificial technology to transform social care.
The home care provider offers a health and wellbeing checks service to the wider Leeds community on a subscription basis. Bluebird Care Leeds North's Assist’ service delivers health and wellbeing checks from the comfort of customers’ homes, enabling them to proactively monitor their health. The service involves a 30-minute visit from Bluebird Care Leeds North ‘Care Champions’, who carry out checks on each customer’s blood pressure, temperature, oxygen saturation, pulse, alertness and general wellbeing. The results from the Care Assist are delivered instantly via Bluetooth, and Bluebird Care Leeds North can immediately notify a family member and relevant health professionals of any changes or concerns. Early identification of concerns helps to prevent further health deterioration and enables prompt treatment.
Bluebird Care Leeds North plans to promote this service to the local Clinical Commissioning Group, as part of a wider agenda to reduce hospital admissions and enable quicker hospital discharge for patients who have to stay in hospital for observation.
Sheree Jenman, director of Bluebird Care Leeds North, said,
“At Bluebird Care Leeds North, we have been utilising technology to enhance our care provision and support local medical services. Our customers and their families feel more at ease knowing a Care Assistant is constantly monitoring their overall health and wellbeing. “We are absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for this prestigious Home Care Award, it is a testament to our consistent innovation and the incredible hard work of our team members. We will continue to modernise our service, ensuring our customers are receiving the best quality care and remain safe and happy in their own homes.”
