Sylvia's live-in care story

My husband and I have used Bluebird Care Services since 2013. Bluebird Care has really supported both myself and my husband, and this has been a great help

Meet Sylvia, one of our Live-in Care customers:

Live-in Care worked for meMy husband and I have used Bluebird Care Services since 2013. We started with one visit a week, so that I could go out to the gym. A domiciliary carer would come in and support my husband whilst I was out. In 2016, I then asked for a domestic visit once a week, to support me with some domestic tasks around our home.

In 2017, my husband and I needed more care due to our circumstances changing. We had 3 visits a day; morning, lunch and at bed-time. The carers from Bluebird Care were able to support us more as we needed it. This could be to help us with personal care, making our meals, and domestic tasks around our home. We had every faith in our core carers – Jeanette, Bonnie and Dawn. They would always go over and above if ever we needed anything done.

In 2019, my husband’s mobility weakened, and Bluebird Care talked to my sons about putting an emergency live-in Care package in place. At first, we were not sure about the idea, but as a family we decided it would be a good idea to trial it. In the beginning we had two live-in carers who were great at supporting my husband through recovery.

We then realised that we enjoyed having a carer with us 24 hours a day and this suited our lifestyle better.

We then met Lili who was able to be our long-term carer. Lili quickly adapted to our ways of doing things, and soon became a part of the family. Lili is a lovely carer and has recently supported me through the passing of my husband. Bluebird Care has really supported both myself and my husband, and this has been a great help.

Lili, was equally as complimentary towards working alongside Sylvia and Bruce and has found it really eye opening. Lili said:   

Bruce was such a sweet man with manners and respect, who was also caring to me. He will be missed very much. Sylvia is also caring and has an infectious smile. I have enjoyed working with them and really liked my job. This job can be difficult at times, and is not easy, but I always aim to treat them like my own family.
