Community Grant awarded to Sittingbourne & District First Responders

This is James at Sittingbourne & District Community First Responders. They were awarded the community grant from Bluebird Swale.

They are members of the local community who volunteer to respond to emergency life threatening calls through the 999 system in conjunction with our ambulance service, South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAMB). Community First Responders provide care to patients within the local community before the arrival of the ambulance service and are trained by SECAMB to deliver lifesaving interventions and defibrillations to patients in cardiac arrest increasing their chance of survival.

In an ideal world, there would be an ambulance available on every street corner in each town or village, but sadly this is not the case. Therefore, Community First Responders are vital resources to the ambulance service and the community they service, they really do make a difference.

As a non-profit voluntary group, we solely rely on the generosity of the public and local businesses for donations as we receive no funding from the Government, NHS or SECAMB – Without the support of the local communities we serve we simply would not be able to operate.

Any financial contribution, no matter how big or small really does make a real difference. Our equipment, training aids & running costs are extremely high, each responder’s kit costs approximately £2,500

Bluebird Care Swale are proud to support such a great service, which makes such a difference to the Community #SittingbourneCFRs #communitygrant #bluebirdcareswale
