Live-in Care Testimonials

My 96-year old mum had been having 3 visits a day from the Bluebird Carers for the past few years but late last year we increased this to 4 as she needed help in getting safely to bed. This worked well but she started with spells of confusion around Christmas time. She was becoming increasingly unsteady and had a series of falls. Her confusion increased and one afternoon she went "walkabout" between care visits and we had no alternative but to look for a care home despite the corona virus lockdown. Mum found the care home experience very disorientating and increased her level of confusion. Visitors were not allowed and it was a very difficult few weeks. Seeing her through the window was the best we could do. This was distressing for all of us as I had been visiting her every day. We approached Bluebird Care about Live-in one-to-one care at home and Jayne (Care Manager) was able to quickly organise it. Paula (Lead Live-in supervisor) soon settled my mum into a routine. She immediately stopped wandering out of bed in the night, obviously feeling more secure. V started a couple of weeks later and seamlessly continued the routine. The afternoon carers, particularly D, have also been a reassuring presence while the live-in carers take their well-earned 2 hour daily break. Mum has benefited from the stability and familiarity of being in her own home. She has companionship, freshly cooked meals, and immediate response when she needs anything. I now visit alternate days and talk with mum from the garden while she and the carer enjoy the conservatory. My wife and I have benefited as we no longer have the worry of the risk of her falling, of her being alone, or being in the nursing home environment without visitors. The carers have taken the strain and it has changed our lives.

Lynn and Tonia are both the most superb carers. They are very kind, always very positive, and make Val feel safe and happy. After a difficult winter last year he has responded so well to the continuity of care that they both provide. He is physically so well cared for and is always comfortable. They deal rapidly with any changes in his health, and contact the district nurse or GP when necessary, and manage his colostomy supplies and medication. They cook wonderful nutritious meals which he greatly enjoys; they provide him with every possible opportunity to exercise, and he loves sitting outside with them whenever the sun comes out. Having Lynn and Tonia means I can be completely confident that Val’s needs are being met, which allows me to work and go away from time to time, without concerns for his wellbeing.
