From Carer to Support Supervisor – Lynda’s Story

We believe in promoting internally, read Lynda's story.

Here at Bluebird Care Edinburgh, we’re continually looking for ways to improve our service, not only to our home care customers but to our team. We pride ourselves on always thinking outside of the box and always challenging the ways we do things. Recently, we began to think about how we could support our supervisors.

Our supervisors have busy roles, as their roles are to ensure that our customers and care assistants are happy and supported. If they receive any feedback on how we can improve things, they report back with suggestions on how we can do things.

To help with this, we have promoted Lynda from Care Assistant to Support Supervisor. Lynda only joined Bluebird Care Edinburgh one year ago and already she’s made a huge impact, and this is why we thought she’d be ideal for the role.

This role will offer support to our supervisors with tasks such as contacting GP’s, social workers, and other professionals during office hours so we can explore ways to enhance our customer care experience. This will allow the supervisors to be out in the community monitoring the quality of care.

We spoke to Jane Perry, Director of Bluebird Care Edinburgh to get her views on the promotion:

“I have been delighted to watch Lynda grow. She is passionate about customer care both across our customers and within our team and that’s why I think she will be an excellent addition to our office team. When you promote from within, you’re tapping into other people’s views as you can imagine Care Assistants have first-hand experience of what’s happening in the community”.

Lynda says:

“Getting a promotion from a Care Assistant to Support Supervisor within 9 months of being employed with Bluebird Care Edinburgh has given me the confidence of knowing that my hard work, skills and experience have been recognised. This has allowed me to progress my career in the Care Sector and is a job that I am passionate about and providing care to the most vulnerable is close to my heart. It is a pleasure working with the Bluebird Care team, who are all professional and are all very supportive no matter role you do”.
