Bluebird Care Exeter is celebrating their fantastic team of care assistants, and the difference they make across their local communities every day, as part of a national campaign, which launched on Tuesday 8th May.
Bluebird Care Exeter is celebrating their fantastic team of care assistants, and the difference they make across their local communities every day, as part of a national campaign, which launched on Tuesday 8th May.
The #MakeADifference campaign, headed up by Bluebird Care’s franchise support centre, aims to highlight and raise awareness of care at home as a profession, which enables vulnerable people to receive the care and support they require in the comfort of their own homes.
We interviewed Bluebird Care Exeter's, Tracy Hardware, who explained to us why she finds a career in care so rewarding.
You started your career back in August 2015, what has been the key factor in staying 2 years?
"The flexibility to fit working around my family."
What do you find most rewarding about being a care assistant?
"The feeling that you are making a difference to people’s lives and helping them to stay as independent as possible."
Tell us about your career journey, where did you begin and where are you now? (If you’ve moved into home care from another profession, why and what have the benefits been?)
"This has been my first job in the care industry. I was looking for a job that gave me a feeling of purpose but also fitted in with my familie’s needs."
What advice would you give to those considering a career in home care?
"Give it a go!"
What is it about working for Bluebird Care that you particularly enjoy?
"The feeling that I am listened to and valued."
Why did you choose home care vs working in a care home?
"I like to help people to keep their independence in their own home."
Can you give an example of a day you found particularly rewarding or a favourite memory at Bluebird Care – helping a particular customer or a touching story to tell?
"I have grown fond of many of my regular customers. They are all individuals with their own stories to tell."
