Bluebird Care Swindon and Lyn M raise £65 for Swindon based dog rescue charity SNDogs

Swindon raises funds for local dog rescue charity.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Clare and her dog Sami from the Swindon based, volunteer led, dog rescue charity SNDogs, to deliver a £65 donation raised by Bluebird Care and one of our lovely customers Lyn M.

Lyn found that she needed something to keep her mind busy during the initial lockdowns in 2020. We know a lot of people have found that the pandemic has had a really negative impact on their mental health and the benefits that having a calming hobby or enjoyable task to do can have. She is a keen knitter and has always enjoyed knitting for others so this is something that we wanted to embrace. After approaching Bluebird Care Swindon Care Manager Katrina Simms, to ask if she would mind printing some patterns for Lyn, it was suggested that maybe Lyn could knit something that we could then sell from our office window for charity.

This is where the idea for rainbow pins was born! Lyn set about knitting and we set about selling managing to raise £65!

Being huge animal lovers (Lyn has 2 lovely dogs herself- Trixie and Chloe) and seeing on social media how they needed the help it was decided that the funds raised should go to SNDogs. I have been told that it will go towards looking after puppies that they have in their care at the moment.

A BIG THANK YOU to all of our Care Professionals and customers for donating, to Lyn for knitting and to SNDogs for the amazing work they do, not just with needy dogs in Swindon but abroad too. This has been a real team effort from everybody involved and I am so proud to work with such an amazing team.

WATCH OUT next for the beautiful knitted Easter egg covers that Lyn is currently making. We will again sell these from our office window with all money raised going to SNDogs to help them continue their amazing work.
