Meet the team

Ben Curtis


While in the corporate world, Ben was Head of People Logistics during the construction phases of both Heathrow Terminal 5 and the London 2012 Olympic Park.

Ben’s first experience in care was as a trustee with the Robin Trust in Cape Town, South Africa, where carers were trained to look after those suffering from HIV and Aids.

When he was looking for a new challenge, combining his business acumen with his passion for care seemed an obvious fit, and so in 2011 he founded Bluebird Care Swindon.

Ben is particularly enthusiastic about making sure that all aspects of care are managed to a high standard. This includes the training that the carers receive so they give the very best quality of care to our customers.


Care Manager

Katrina is our CQC registered care manager and she joined the team in 2014 with 12 years’ experience in the care sector.

Katrina is responsible for the interest and well-being of all our customers and staff in addition to the efficient day to day running of the operation.

Katrina has a particular interest in learning difficulties. Her knowledge and compassion in providing a safe and happy environment are paramount in the setting up of the care plans.

Katrina holds an NVQ4 in Leadership and Management for Care Services.

She also completes local training courses in health and social care every year to ensure her knowledge and skills are kept up to date.

Jen Stone

Pass System Champion & Quality Manager

Jenny joined Bluebird Care Swindon shortly after we started trading in September 2011 as a carer working around child care for her daughter.

It soon became obvious that Jenny had potential within the business using her IT skills and is currently our PASS System champion having implemented it from inception. The PASS system allows for electronic care plans and medicines records which can now be updated in real time to ensure that our customers receive the best care possible.

Jenny also covers most of the ‘out of hours’ phone calls to ensure that our carers and customer have the support whenever they need it

In Jenny’s own words “I love my job. It is rewarding and certainly keeps me busy!! I don’t plan on leaving any time soon”

Just to add to the pressure Jenny is doing her level 5 Diploma in Care

Karen McQuillan


Kaz joined Bluebird Care Swindon in 2016 after having been involved in the pub industry for 5 years prior to that Kaz spent 4 years as a Carer.

It was obvious to us that Kaz showed potential when we were looking for an additional supervisor. Her enthusiasm for the role is infectious and a great person to have around to liven up the party

Banger Racing plays an important part of the McQuillan family with 5 Banger Racers and cars in the family

Kaz is currently training doing her Level 3 in Health & Social Care and just to add her already frantic life she is doing a training course in Life Coaching as well as training to do marathons and charity runs

Steve Kilby


Steve joined Bluebird Care Swindon in the September before we started trading as a Carer.

After a small break (not worth mentioning) Steve re-joined Bluebird Care Swindon as a supervisor.

Steve’s strength lies in building up relationships with both customer and carers and has proven to be an invaluable member of our field support team.

Steve is also an accomplished artist in his spare time and when he can find a quiet time in his ‘man-cave’


Office Manager

Natalie joined Bluebird Swindon in 2015 as our Office Manager.

Natalie has worked within the care industry for over a 10 years, she is an experienced carer and still attends care calls when required.

Natalie has also been a Care Co-ordinator, so she understands the pressure that this position can bring and can step into the breach at any given time.

Natalie is responsible for the smooth running of all the administration within the office – if you need any information or have any questions regarding care or administration then Natalie will normally know the answer!
