On Friday 27th May 2016, the team at Bluebird Care Macclesfield were delighted to participate in raising money for the Make May Purple campaign. Members of team all wore purple for the day as well as participating a range of other fundraising activities including; donating purple themed items to be raffled and participating in the ‘name the bear and his purple friend’ competition.

The Stroke Association is the UK’s leading stroke charity. They work directly with stroke survivors, their families and carers; with health and social care professionals; and with scientists and researchers. Make May Purple encouraged people to take part by either baking, wearing or planting purple, as a way to raise awareness and show support for the great work that the Stroke Association does.

Bluebird Care Macclesfield arranged for Christine Wilson, communication support coordinator at the Stroke Association to give a talk to staff members on this day. The talk was found to be very enjoyable as well as interactive. All funds raised will go to the local Stroke Association support group in Crewe, Cheshire to help buy refreshments for their meetings as well as organised trips. Jayne Wakefield, care manager at Bluebird Care Macclesfield will be attending their next meeting to present the support group with their donation. Jayne also won the ‘name the bear and his purple friend’ competition so has kindly donated the bear to the local support group to be used in a future raffle, raising further funds for this cause.

Joanna Lee, director of Bluebird Care Macclesfield, commented on the success their event:

We were happy to participate in the Make May Purple campaign for the Stroke Association this year and as a team we managed to raise a total of £84.50. This campaign has given communities the opportunity the show support for the charity and help raise essential funds for this important cause.”
We would like to thank all of our staff from Bluebird Care Macclesfield for taking part and helping us raise awareness.
