Bluebird Care Backs Bedford Park Festival

Published: 22/06/2014

To celebrate the centenary of Poet Dylan Thomas’ birth, 17 professional actors came together last Saturday at the Bedford Park Festival to perform 'Under Milk Wood', directed by John Griffiths and sponsored by Bluebird Care (Hounslow).

Held in St Michael’s and All Angel’s Church, Chiswick, this magical evening mesmerised hundreds who came along.
After that first, famous and favourite broadcast by the BBC, 'Under MilkWood' was instantly acclaimed as a masterpiece of radio, and a few months later was awarded the international Italia Prize as the finest radio work of the year. Now, over sixty years later, at any given time there is always a production being performed somewhere in the world.

Director of Bluebird Care (Hounslow) Sai Visakan said;

Bluebird Care was pleased to sponsor last Saturday night’s production. Under Milk Wood is a popular comedy that people warm to instantly.
It was terrific being part of such a community event that really unites residents in not just Bedford Park but borough as a whole. It was a stunning performance and one that had over 200 members of the audience laughing out loud over. Congratulations to the team behind the festival who do such brilliant work in instilling community pride to one and all.

Director John Griffiths added;

Dylan Thomas’ beautiful, bawdy, affectionate, reckless and deeply original play was justly crowned at its first performance by a storm of cheers... the characters are romantic, earthy, mad, sane, parochial, universal, and wildly comic; and they are gifted with a revelatory wonder of words.

Last Saturday’s event was no different.
