Registered Manager of the Year announced at National Awards

Published: 09/09/2016

Congratulations to registered manager Lynsey Torbit, who wins at Bluebird Care Awards.

Lynsey Torbit, from Galston, joined Bluebird Care Glasgow South in 2015 as Supervisor and we could quickly see how hungry she was for more responsibility.  In June 2015 she became Registered Manager and has worked with the franchise owners to grow the business by 60%.  Passionate about her work, Lynsey strives for best practice and has helped maintain our “excellent” Care Inspectorate grades of 6 for the third year in a row.

Staff commented;

A motivating manager who is very approachable, always has time for her staff and truly listens whether it's a work or personal issue.”  “I have never worked with a manager who treats her staff with great respect and individuality”.
Lynsey said;

I remember from an early age, that working within the care sector would be a passion of mine. Being brought up with very well educated parents, they strived to ensure education was a prime part of my life. I also had a burning desire to prove I could be anything I wanted to be if I put my mind to it. I have worked within the care sector for ten years now and have had the pleasure of working with two different private care at home organisations. I have developed a vast amount of skills throughout both these organisations, however the primary key within any role is to ensure you listen to the customer.

I quickly realised that Bluebird Care shared all the same ideas and principles that I was brought up with, of what good care should be and more importantly how it should be managed and delivered. I love my job and embrace the additional responsibility this position comes with. I work with like-minded people throughout the organisation and I sincerely hope that I will be with Bluebird Care for a very long time to come.”
Lynsey Torbit AwardsAt a special afternoon tea hosted at Fortnum and Mason in London on Tuesday 6th September, Lynsey was chosen by a panel of independent judges from six regional winners picked from branches at more than 180 Bluebird Care franchises across the UK.

The panel of judges included: Bridget Warr CBE, Chief Executive of the United Kingdom Homecare Association (UKHCA); Heléna Herklots, Chief Executive of Carers UK; and David Brindle, Public Services Editor at The Guardian.

The Bluebird Care Awards winners were recognised for the outstanding, and often extraordinary, contribution that they have made over the past year in improving the lives of Bluebird Care customers.

Other winners included….

Tracey Morgan, from Bluebird Care’s Stroud and Cirencester franchise, won Team Member of the Year.

Bluebird Care Carer of the Year, Egidija Indrasuite, said:

It is a great honour to have received this award. I do not do my job thinking of awards but it is such a pleasure to receive this recognition.”
The national winners were chosen from 18 regional finalists who had been picked at an earlier stage from the 15,000 Bluebird Care staff across the UK.

Judge Bridget Warr said:

It was a great privilege to be asked to judge these awards, and extremely difficult to select only one winner. Being able to hear the positive stories in which care assistants influence people’s lives on a day-to-day basis was a great honour, and there was genuinely no weak link in any of the finalist categories.”
