Top question when looking for care

How can someone arrange care at home?

The first contact begins with an email or phone call, from here we gather all the important information about you or the person who wishes for care at home. We then note down everything our potential customer needs and discuss this in detail with our area co-ordinators. They analyse whether we can fulfil the customer’s needs and then we inform you whether we can cover such care visits. In the instance that we can fulfil your needs, we will then get the visits “booked in” and carers informed. After this, we mutually arrange a date and time for the assessment process, where the customer’s personal requirements are assessed by one of our area supervisors. This ensures the care package is personal and wholly fits the care needs of the individual.

The goal of Bluebird’s assessment process is to find out and agree on the needs and the degree of dependency. This is also when we try to get the best match of carer to customer. We also offer advice on sources of financial support too.

Daily support is carried out by our in-house trained staff members who assist with a range of tasks such as medication prompts, domestic duties, personal care, accompaniment to appointments and outings.

Can you provide consistency of carers?

Bluebird Care Glasgow South place a great emphasis on the continuity of care from a team of regular carers and aim to provide as much consistency as possible, so you can get familiar with the carers visiting you in your home or residence. We recognise the importance of this, as this is exactly what we want for our own family and friends. If for whatever reason, the regular carer is unavailable this would be communicated to you.

We deeply understand how vital it is for you and your family to have confidence in the people we assign. All carers from Bluebird Care Glasgow South undergo a comprehensive training programme, with the necessary PVG (Disclosure) check and have at least 3 references whenever possible. Each member of staff is carefully evaluated and selected, they are continually supported throughout their career journey with us by our management team of lead carers, supervisors and the registered manager.

What services do you offer?

The services offered are to suit the individual’s requirements and these could vary from a 60-minute visit once a day to multiple weekly visits and in some cases, full live-in care. We offer help for the morning, such as helping you up so you are dressed and ready. Assistance with showering or bathing, preparation of breakfast, helping with household tasks such as cleaning and shopping. We also, where appropriate, will support you when going out, taking you to appointments and providing general companionship.

How is this paid for?

Our customers can pay the full cost of their care privately direct to us through a fortnightly direct debit or with Council funding (if appropriate) via a Direct Payment (DP) or an Individual Service Fund (ISF). Every person who resides in Scotland over the age of 65 are entitled to free personal care and a DP can offset the cost of a care package quite significantly. We have great experience with this arrangement and can help and advise you on this.
