The business is now the best-rated home care and live-in care provider not only in the borough of Camden, but across the whole of North London.

The business is now the best-rated home care and live-in care provider not only in the borough of Camden, but across the whole of North London.

Bluebird Care Camden & Hampstead was last inspected in 2016 and was rated ‘Outstanding’ in two out of the five Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs) – caring and well-led. Since then, the service has secured another ‘Outstanding’ rating in a third KLOE – responsive. This follows an unannounced inspection spanning three days in August and September 2019.

The service works predominantly with older people living with age-related conditions such as dementia. It also provides care and support to younger people with physical and sensory impairments, learning disabilities and mental health needs.

George Morris, director of Bluebird Care Camden & Hampstead, said: “We are delighted with our new and improved ‘Outstanding’ rating from the CQC. It was no easy task. I couldn’t be prouder of our wonderful and hardworking team who are leading the way in care in North London. Our focus going forward is to continue our learning, support people to best of our ability and promote our customer’s independence whenever possible.”

In its inspection report, CQC praised the service for its “open, honest, caring and positive culture” and said staff had an “excellent understanding” of the care and support people require.

Inspectors also noted that people using the service consistently praised the management team.

Comments included: “Every time I call them, they are so lovely. They always sort things out and make sure I know they are there for me. The managers are as good as the staff.”

A family member said: “We have tried other agencies, but this is the best. They keep in touch with us, so we always know what’s going on with our relative. I can go online and check what staff have done and who is caring for him.”

The CQC praised the registered manager for her “passion” and highlighted where the North London home care provider had invested in resources to ensure added value. For example, a staff member had been trained to provide health checks to people. This resulted in prompt referrals to GPs where concerns had been identified and reduced risk of hospitalisation.

Commenting on the achievement, registered manager Karen Rides said: “I am extremely proud of my team for making us the best care provider in the borough. The whole team work around the clock to ensure everyone gets the best care everyday.”

Alison Murray, head of Adult Social Care inspection in London, said: “I am delighted that Bluebird Care Camden & Hampstead has maintained high standards and have once more been rated Outstanding overall.

“The service has improved further, so that the responsive domain has now been rated Outstanding. The service worked with people holistically and staff understood the importance of ensuring that people were supported to maintain their interests and independence.”

Home Care Insight previously reported that Bluebird Care Camden & Hampstead has joined forces with Skills for Care to help promote and change perceptions of social care, and inspire local people to enter the sector.
