I have worked in care for 28 years. I had a bit of a break to try different things and realised that there was only one job I was happy doing and that was care. In my spare time I like to spend time with my family and friends. I enjoy reading and gardening and walking with my dogs.

Emma Thompson

In my last year at school I studied Health and Social care in sixth form, because I like working with people and there are lots of options with this qualification.
I then went on to study hair and beauty and this then became a beautician. This job didn’t pay very well so I decided to put my health and social care qualification to good use and worked part time as a carer alongside my beautician job.
I loved it so much I gave up the beautician role and became a full time carer and have done this for the last 4 years. I discovered I had a real passion for this and gained further qualification by getting my NVQ level 2.
I am now about to start my level 3 because I wish to progress in this work and am looking forward to the challenge!
My other passion is animals and I have just got a puppy named Nala who is keeping me very busy but I love it!
