Bluebird Care West Oxfordshire customer Carol Constable has been doing her part to support older people and help raise money to provide the much-needed services and assistance they need as part of an Age UK project.

Carol, 75, has always loved knitting. Picking up the craft as a young girl in school, Carol has woven anything and everything from toys, to blankets, to clothing. For the past 18 months, Carol has been using her hobby and passion to make a real difference for those suffering.

After a close friend of Bluebird Care West Oxfordshire and member at Age UK, Stephen Mott, got in touch with Carol and asked her if she would like to get involved in the project, she went above and beyond to aid those in need.  Inspired by the thought of helping others, so far Carol has fashioned over 245 little hats as part of the Age UK- Innocent Smoothie’s Project, raising more than £60 with her efforts. These funds will be utilised for vital local and national projects in aid of older people.

With the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown period making it an extremely challenging year for many older people, the need to support these individuals has been greater than ever. Yet, the small efforts made by people such as Carol are making real difference.

With three more months to go until the deadline for completed hats at the end of August, Carol is hoping to produce even more, and inspire others to get involved. She is looking forward to seeing her little knits atop bottles later this year. The Bluebird Care West Oxfordshire Care Assistants who care for Carol could not be more proud – what an inspiring woman!
