Meet the team

Peter Slough

Director

Peter’s first experience of arranging care was fraught and riddled with anxiety. “Finding care at short notice and trying to work with companies with no customer service ethos was frustrating. That’s when I thought there must be a better way!” Fast forward to 2024 and with over a decade of industry experience, Peter owns and manages eight  Bluebird Care services across London and the South West.

After university he worked for an NGO in New Delhi, using his law degree to change government policy and improve lives. This passion for transformative change permeates his operation of Bluebird Care West Oxfordshire. “We are changing lives for the better, providing local residents the opportunity to create their very best in-home support structure, delivered by Bluebirds. Requiring care and support can make one feel quite vulnerable. Our aim is to make choosing care an empowering moment, one that unlocks positive outcomes with the ultimate goal of remaining safe and happy at home.”

With his first foray into arranging care for a family member ending in disappointment, Peter notes, “Our most important ethos is to provide professional care that keeps each customer at the heart of their service… care that we would be happy for our own families to receive. Delivering a consistently compassionate, highly skilled, professional service is why two thirds of our new customers come to us via personal recommendation.”

Tim Rowland-Jones

Director

Tim’s wealth of experience in business management informs his oversight of Bluebird Care West Oxfordshire. Having helmed a multi-channel retail business before opening his first Bluebird Care office, Tim says, “I don’t think many people dream of running a home care company… I certainly didn’t! But when my grandfather’s dementia worsened I became acutely aware of the need for exceptional, empathetic care. This lived experience pushed me to open my first Bluebird Care office and set the high standards we’ve maintained for over a decade.”

Insisting his colleagues are trained beyond industry standard, each Care Assistant is encouraged to develop specialisms ranging from dementia and post-op rehabilitation to Parkinson’s, MND, complex care, challenging behaviour, palliative care and nutrition and hydration. “Our aim is to match each customer to their ideal Care Assistants by personality and expertise. Whilst our customers are at the centre of what we do, our Bluebirds are the heartbeat of the company - their kindness, compassion, and professionalism set us apart.”

As the owner of eight Bluebird Care services across London and the South West, Tim can’t imagine working in any other industry. “It’s an unbeatable feeling, being involved in a local business that changes lives. My father is now receiving live-in care which has been life-changing so I am passionate about providing this service to Oxfordshire residents.”

Michelle Field

Registered Care Manager

Prior to care I worked in retail. Not really knowing what I wanted to do when leaving school, retail seemed like the best option for me at the time. I enjoyed it but I went home feeling deflated, did I really see a career doing something I wasn’t excited about?

So, I left to try a few other things then started a family. After maternity leave I needed to work somewhere that offered flexible hours to suit me and my new family. That’s when I started caring.

I’ve now worked in the Care sector for 10 years, and 7 of those have been with Bluebird Care. I started my career with Bluebird as a Care Assistant working part-time at evenings and weekends.

Today I am the Care Manager for South Oxfordshire, and honestly, I can’t imagine working anywhere else. The customers, staff and management are all fantastic and we work so well together as a team.

Now I go home knowing that I’m making a difference.

Caring isn’t just a ‘job’ it’s a vocation, and it’s where I’m meant to be.

Jo Smith

Live-In Care Manager

My career with Bluebird started in 2014. After working in a family run residential care setting where senior roles were taken for the foreseeable future, I wanted an employer who offered progression and that is what I got! My roles have included Carer, Support Supervisor, Supervisor and now Live-in Care Manager

I am the point of contact for our live in service, dealing with queries, concerns and requests.  I enjoy getting to know our customers as individuals and their needs and working with the live in care team to ensure they receive the care that they require to enable them to live in their own homes where they feel comfortable and the care is focused on them.

I thoroughly enjoy my job, it’s more often than not fast paced, challenging and no two days are ever the same.

Alice Cox

Supervisor

My name is Alice and I am a supervisor for the West Oxfordshire team. I have worked with Bluebird Care since 2018 and have progressed up the ladder. I have been interested in the health and social care sector since I was in school and knew it was a career path I wanted to take. I enjoy providing the best care to the customers we see on a daily basis and the smile they have on their face when we have been. Working in the health and social care sector can be hard at times but it is a very rewarding job when you see you have made your customers happy.
