Bluebird Care Exmouth is moving to the centre of the town after an ‘outstanding’ rating of care has seen demand for our services skyrocket.

Bluebird Care Exmouth have seen enquiries for homecare provision rapidly rise after we received an ‘outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care in England.

Exmouth manager Frankie Rowe, says: “There have been a flurry of enquiries every day since last November when we received our ‘outstanding’ CQC rating. People want to get homecare they can trust for their loved ones.”

Our new office, on the site of a former charity shop on Church Street, will be much more accessible to customers and provide greater visibility for us. It will also result in one more administrative job and up to 15 more care assistant jobs over the next 12 months.

Frankie explains: “There is so much demand for high quality homecare. We get a lot of referrals by word of mouth, healthcare professionals and from customers and their families. With a bigger team, we will be able to provide more homecare in the area, as well as boosting employment.”

In 2016, Bluebird Care Exmouth had just four care assistants and ten customers, providing about 6,000 hours of care per year; now we have 35 care assistants, about 65 customers and they provide 85,000 hours of homecare per year.

The Exmouth team also provide carers for the Single Point of Access team – a team of carers who support the NHS by helping to avoid hospital admissions or facilitating a patient’s discharge from hospital.

The SPOA team are often called to help out where an elderly or vulnerable person has called for the out of hours doctor. If the doctor does not want them to be left alone at home because they maybe a falls risk or they may come to harm, a care assistant will sit with them over night and look after them.

Frankie adds: “We have 12 people on the team who cover 35 nights a week, potentially stopping 35 hospital admissions a week.”
