Welcome to this latest addition of our monthly newsletter!

I hope you’ve all being able to enjoy the beautiful sunshine we’ve been having recently, I’ve certainly made the most of it with weekend walks along Exeter Quay with Sara and the dogs – I can’t think of a better place than Devon in the sunshine!

February was a very proud month for us here at Bluebird Care. We spent time celebrating our Exeter and East Devon employee’s achievements and long service milestones but also hearing the news that we’re finalists for three awards (one National and two Local) was definitely the icing on the cake!

In March our Exeter office turns 5 years old, so to celebrate we’re holding a good old fashioned birthday party for customers and staff – think lots of cake, balloons, party games and prizes! We’re looking forward to sharing the photos with you in our next newsletter.

February bought a flurry of Award nominations for Bluebird Care Exeter and East Devon, including being announced as finalists for the National HealthInvestor Awards in the “Community Support Provider of the Year”category!

The HealthInvestor Awards promote excellence and recognises innovation in the independent healthcare sector, with the judges looking for organisations and individuals that made an outstanding contribution to healthcare in 2015.

We also found out that we’re finalists for two categories: "Excellence in Customer Service" AND “Employer of the Year” at the Exeter Business Awards 2016!

It is so great that our outstanding care services, activities undertaken to make us a fantastic place to work and our culture of community engagement has been recognised in this way.

I am so proud of all our employees who have helped to make these recognitions possible.

We’ll find out over the next few months if we’ve won – watch this space and keep everything crossed for us!

During February we also took time to celebrate and recognise our staff for their achievements and service milestones. We realise how lucky we are to retain knowledgeable and highly skilled staff in such a competitive industry that traditionally has a high staff turnover rate.

We invited all our Care Assistants and office staff who had passed their probation period or a service milestone to presentation afternoons where everyone enjoyed celebratory cakes and took advantage of the opportunity to socialise and celebrate such a positive thing with their colleagues.

Our staff are the lifeblood of what we do at Bluebird Care Exeter & East Devon and I’m so glad we take time out of our busy schedules to take stock and give a massive thank you to them.

February was Heart Month and this year the British Heart Foundation urged people to take healthy steps to help improve their heart health as well as support their annual fundraiser, Wear it. Beat it. So on the 5th February we held a red bake sale in our Ottery St Mary Office.

We had a wide selection of red treats for people to buy made by our office team and Care Assistants! We raised a fantastic amount and would like to thank everyone who came along and gave so generously!

East Devon

Kat was nominated by her colleague Becky Daborn who recently visited Kat’s customers – all of whom told her how fab Kat was and how much they loved her!

What brilliant feedback to receive!
