Footballer Bukayo Saka signs Football Shirt for our customer and Arsenal super fan.  Mr S's dream was made a reality by Care assistant Gosia who made it all possible. ✨

Just another example of how our Care assistants go above and beyond for their customers.

Mr S suffers from a condition called autosomal-recessive genetic disease. It means that he is unable to walk, with loss of sensation in his arms and legs.  Mr S relies on an electric wheelchair which is personalised to his body and needs. This is something that one of his Carers Zoe advocated for him to get to ensure that his quality of care is not affected. We at Bluebird care pride ourselves in providing care that understands the importance of dignity and respect for our customers.

He also has impaired speech that worsens over time due to his medical condition, but this does not stop him and the Carers being able to understand each other. In fact, his carers describe him as a fun-loving guy with a cheeky sense of humour. He is someone who absolutely lives life his way and knows exactly what he wants.

All his carers are so fond of him so we are not at all surprised that one of his Carers was able to pull some strings and get the Bukayo Saka of Arsenal Signed Shirt for him.

Our Carers support Mr S with Personal care at home, they do his grocery shop and prepare his meals as well as provide companionship care and take him on days out to continue to enjoy things that he would otherwise be able unable to on his own.

When speaking to his mum she said:

He used to go and watch the live Arsenal matches at the stadium. But since his condition developed it’s been hard to make that happen. But he still watches it all on telly. So, to receive the signed shirt it meant so much to him.

We spoke to Gosia to find out how it all unfolded. Here is what she had to say in her own words.

‘We often give gifts to re-confirm or establish our connection with others, which means that they’re a reflection on both the giver and the receiver, as well as their unique relationship and this is what being a Bluebird carer means.’

Gosia says she knew through conversations she had with Mr S and the carer and customer relationship she has built that he was a huge fan of Arsenal and Saka. So she made it her mission to get him this gift.

I was able to call on a favour to make it happen and I would like to say thank you to Bukayo Saka and Family for making it possible.
