Once again we have reached the regional finals of the Great British Care Awards 2022, on this occasion receiving shortlisting’s for an impressive five categories.

The Great British Care Awards take place throughout the UK to celebrate excellence across the care sector. Paying homage to individuals who have gone above and beyond within their field, they are highly sort after within the industry.

This year, the entire Reading and Wokingham team have been shortlisted for The Care Team award category, in recognition of their compassionate and collaborative approach to providing high-quality and specialist care. The team was able to demonstrate the ways in which their excellent communication and development opportunities drive demonstrable outcomes for members of the community. Judges praised the team’s commitment to customers’ dignity and privacy, as well as their respect for fellow colleagues.

Among the fantastic people that make up the team are several outstanding individuals who have been spotlighted for their efforts.

Caroline Sawyer has been named finalist in the Home Care Worker category, in recognition of her exceptional hard work to consistently provide high-quality and person-centred care. Colleagues praised the ‘amazing rapport’ that she has developed with customers and family members, stressing how she has even taken gone above and beyond to take her customers out on her days off to allow them to socialise and further support their family.

Ruth Gabriel has reached the final of The Care Newcomer award, which celebrates a member of the team who joined the care sector within the previous 12 months. Colleagues and customers praised Ruth’s proactive and flexible approach to accommodating customers’ individual needs, and her incredible care progression in such a short space of time.

Meanwhile Alison Small has been nominated for The Dementia Carer award, which honours the specialist skills required to support those living with the condition. Judges were particularly impressed by Alison’s commitment to continual professional development, eager to ensure she possesses the best possible expertise and knowledge to support those living with dementia.

Finally, given the impressive calibre of these finalists, it is unsurprising that the home care provider’s HR & Marketing Coordinator, Victoria Brown, has also been shortlisted for the 3 R’s Category, in recognition of her work to Recruit, Retain, and Recognise the very best in the business. From developing innovative methods of engaging with potential candidates, to implementing generous wellbeing programmes, Victoria always ensures that her care team are supported to deliver their best for the local community.

The home care provider and their team members will learn whether they have been victorious at the South East regional awards in Brighton on the 18th November this year. If triumphant, they will be shortlisted in the national Great British Care Awards against other regional award winners from across the country.
