Kerry Brooker

Registered Care Manager

Kerry joined us in 2012 as a care assistant and was with us for four years before moving on to gain experience in a care home in South Oxfordshire. She returned to Bluebird Care Reading & Wokingham in January 2017 as a senior care assessor, and was promoted to Care Manager later in the year. 

Kerry has a wealth of experience in care and understands the importance of delivering quality care. She is a people person and has a passion to help.

What Kerry loves most about her role is the variety of customer and carer contact. The rewarding feeling when receiving a thank you for the work we all carry out and the support received from the whole team

Kerry lives in Reading with her partner and has 3 dogs which she adore and are a huge part of her family. Hobbies !!! Kerry doesn't really have any apart from reading and housework which she finds very therapeutic !

Sophie Purdy

Care Coordinator

Sophie has been working in the care industry since she was 19 years old and has a lot of experience and knowledge and has an NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care.

Sophie started with Bluebird Care in April 2020 as a Care Assistant and in a short few months Sophie become the coordinator for Reading and Wokingham Branch at the beginning of July.

If you were to ask Sophie what she loves about her role she would say? ” Being close with all the carers, I am always in contact with my team and our customers and I love being able to support from all levels, doing care visits, supervisions and ensuring customers get continuity of care and the right care.

In Sophie’s spare time you may find her socialising with her friends and more than likely eating her favourite food, which is chicken, and of course from Nandos, Sophie also enjoys fun activates like top golf and flight club.

One thing people don’t know about Sophie is she was born blonde and she will say this might explain a few things.

Angela McMillan

Filed Support Supervisor

Angela is originally from Cambusnethan in Scotland and moved to Reading a few years ago. Angela is a person with one of the strongest work ethics you will ever meet. Angela cares passionately about her customers and always goes the extra mile to support the team.

Angela's role is to support both customers and carers at Bluebird Care. She regularly reviews to see how care is progressing as well as ensuring carers are maintaining the highest standards.

When we asked Angela what she loves most about her role she said " it is meeting new people and being able to help them do things that they would not normally be able to do" 

When Angela is not working, she loves spending time with her family where they have lots of adventures. Angela also loves visiting family in Scotland. 

Victoria Brown

Recruitment and Marketing Coordinator

Victoria, aka Vicky has been working with Bluebird Care all together for 5 years. Vicky started as a carer 5 years ago and has developed amazing relationships with our carers and customers and has such a can do approach and is very positive. Vicky has always wanted to develop her career within Bluebird care, and in 2018 Vicky became a customer care champion, which meant Vicky was mentoring new staff, assessing customers’ needs and sharing ideas on how we can all improve.

Vicky started her new role in November 2020 and already delivering amazing results within her recruitment and marketing role.

If you asked Vicky what she loves about her role she would say “I am very much a people person and within my new role I’m always talking to new people and potential carers, it really helps that I have experienced care and can use it within recruitment to grasp if they have what it takes to work within our highly skilled team. I love the team around me, we are more a family than work colleagues”

If Vicky was to have her favourite food, it would be good old Nans recipe Beef stew and Dumplings. Fantastic in the winter months.

Vicky is married and has three children, a dog and a cat, to which they all keep Vicky very busy. As a family they enjoy walks and birdwatching as well as a love going to historic sites and places of interest.

In Vicky’s spare time when she is not working or being a busy mum to her three children Vicky really enjoys art, dancing and of course bingo!

One thing people don’t know about Vicky is she won Face of Berkshire 2010.

Helen Mason

Finance Assistant

Helen started working for Bluebird Care as our new Finance Assistant on 10th November 2020. Helen is currently covering Adela who is on maternity leave. Helen has a wealth of knowledge and is currently studying my AAT level 3 accounting qualification.

Helen loves how varied the role is and working within a friendly team, helping to support the team as much as she can.

When Helen is planning on going out for a meal you may find her in a Mexican restaurant eating her favourite food.

Helen has been married for 12 years and has three children aged 11,8 & 5 who keep her very busy. Helen has a passion and love for baking, especially her children’s birthday cakes and she enjoys doing a lot of gym classes each week which helps counteract the baking!

One thing people don’t know about Helen is is has a degree in French and Information systems which involved her living in Paris for 5 months, in an office that had a view of the Eiffel Tower, how amazing is that! 

Rebecca Hawkins

Operations Manager

Rebecca Hawkins, or better known as Becki, joined Bluebird Care in 2009 as a carer.  She has gone on to have a vaired and succesful career with the team, initially as a Co-ordinator for 4 years before moving in to the role of Deputy Manager for Reading in 2013. In 2014 she went on maternity leave and returned a year later to head up the Business Development side of the company.

Becki has a passion for customer service and ensuring Bluebird Care delivers the highest quality of care. Her experience, skills and flexibiltiy allow her to drive business improvement and initiatives across the organisation.  
In her sparetime, Becki spends time with her young family, visiting her parents in Gloucestershire and enjoys meeting friends for a good meal at a local pub. She also has a passion for horses and arts and crafts.
