Awarding Our Community Grant To Headway West Kent!

Four times a year we give a £500 grant to a local charity, and on this occasion they have given it to Headway NWK to support their work. Headway West Kent is a UK-wide charity that endeavours to improve life after brain injury. The charity supports adults across West Kent who have been affected by brain injury either as a result of an accident or illness.

The growing charity has a network of more than 125 groups and branches across the UK and provides a framework of support and services to brain injury survivors and their families.
One of the main services the charity offers, is a drop-in centre in Maidstone which provides a safe and friendly environment to socialise and participate in various activities, which are enjoyable as well as promoting cognitive development.
The grant will be specifically used to the support this Support group, which is for anyone living with a brain injury and offers an informal opportunity to access information and advice and peer support.
Upon hearing Headway would be receiving the grant, Funding Project Coordinator Kate was ecstatic:
Some may be as young as 18, with their whole life ahead of them and their circumstances changed instantly following a road traffic accident.
Helping them in any way amazing, and I know the support groups will be so beneficial for so many.
Many of our clients are likely to have complex long-term problems affecting their relationships and ability to lead an independent life.
