We are proud to support the Stroke Association in Maidstone as our named charity for 2018 and a team from the office recently completed their Resolution Run in Mote Park!

The team joined hundreds of other keen runners on what was a fresh Sunday morning. Options were a 5k, 10k or 15k route and a 5k route was the most popular choice.

Care Manager Mel, Care Coordinator Michael, Care Supervisor Emma and Community Liaison Nathan took on the challenge after very little training (none!) and completed the run in just under an hour.

Becky Beard, Community and Events Fundraising Manager at the Stroke Association,

"Every five minutes across the UK, someone’s life is turned upside down by stroke. By taking part in our Resolution Run, each runner has helped us continue to support stroke survivors and their families as they rebuild their lives.

We’re extremely grateful to everyone who took part – it was a fantastic turn out and a great day for everyone involved.”

As well as raising funds and awareness for an excellent cause, the run was geared towards promoting health and fitness which a positive way to help prevent Stroke. Community Liaison Nathan commented:

"I am generally quite unfit and never find myself doing any exercise so I was actually a bit concerned about whether I would finish the run so delighted that I finished in 31 minutes.

Although I did ache for a few days after, it felt good to do some exercise and have now signed up to partake in weekly 5k park runs that are held locally to me!"

Care Manager Mel commented:

"It was really good fun doing the run as a team and I am so pleased that we completed it in a good time! It was quite fresh whilst we were waiting for the run to start, however we quickly warmed up.

A lot of our customers have experienced the effects of a stroke and we were certainly running with them in mind.

The work that the Stroke Association do is so valuable and I am proud to be able to support them this year.
