With 20% of people getting flu in the UK each year*, we are urging our community to book in their flu jab and get vaccinated in preparation for the winter.

Flu can be unpleasant and although it usually clears up within a week, for some it can take longer and lead to other complications such as pneumonia.

It is for this reason that we encourage everyone to have an annual flu jab.

Flu jabs can be booked in the following locations:
  • Your GP surgery
  • A local pharmacy offering the service
  • Your midwifery service if they offer it for pregnant women
For children, the flu vaccine can be administered as a nasal spray and for those over 65 or with health needs as assessed by a GP, the vaccine is free.

Care Manager Clare explains:
Flu is something that tends to be a risk to a lot of our customers who are older people and therefore more susceptible to disease so we advise all to book their flu jab.

The flu jab should go with a healthy lifestyle that includes a good diet and exercise which all can help prevent flu as well as other conditions.

For some of our customers, the flu jab may not be suitable and although this will be checked before the jab is administered, I would always advise to seek advice from their GP.
