Enjoying Fish And Chips With Joyce

We were recently visited by one of our customers, Joyce, who joined us for a fish and chip lunch and shared about her fascinating life.   We believe in going the extra mile for our customers and are pleased to have been able to spend some time with Joyce.

We were recently visited by one of our customers, Joyce, who joined us for a fish and chip lunch and shared about her fascinating life.
 
Joyce is 94 and has lived in Shepway since she was seven, in the family home she has for over 65 years. Bluebird Care started providing support following a recent fall at home.
 
Her biggest achievement is having a happy life, making the most of every moment including time with her two children and now great grandchildren.
 
Joyce shared her memories of when Maidstone was fields and how the town has changed over the years. In particular, she shared how, during WWII, she was in the Women's Air Force and her job was to drive crews to the Lancashire Bombers at a local airfield.


 
She also shared how in 1944, she married her busband who worked on the bin lorries and after the war, Joyce was an expert on the meat counter at World Foods, Maidstone.
 
Joyce commented:
I very much appreciate today as I usually have fish and chip Saturdays so during the week was a real treat.

I have enjoyed a lovely and happy time throughout my life, making the most of every moment.

The fish and chip meal was lovely and it was great to see everyone who works in the office!
Joyce also shared with us a few tips that she believes have helped keep her health and out of hospital until she was 90.
 
Each day she has a garlic capsule and explained how good old cod liver oil very much helps!

 

In addition, she explained how it is important to make the most of and enjoy every moment, work hard and spend time with family.

Care Manager, Jade, said:
It was really good for us to be able to have Joyce join us in the office and she has such a fascinating life!

In particular, it was great to see a customer who we speak to reguarly on the phone visit us in the office.

I am looking forward to the next customer outing we arrange which will be in the next few weeks!
