I used to look after my nan and currently look after my mum. When my nan died, I decided to work in care because I love helping people and wanted to do something to give back to my community.
I have now worked with Bluebird Care for over 2.5 years and never found a job like it. I visit customers each day and it is very fulfilling seeing the smile on their faces when I arrive.
I also know that for some, I am the only person they would see during the day. I have a chat whilst supporting them and it is nice to almost feel like an extension to their family. It’s very rewarding.
A few tips I would give to someone thinking about developing a career in care is to have a caring and understanding outlook, also being a good listener. It is also important to have thought about the job as it can be challenging but is very rewarding!
