The Exmouth & District Community Transport Group have been awarded £500 as part of the Bluebird Care Community Grant Scheme.

Bluebird Care, an Exeter and East Devon based home care provider have awarded a grant of £500 to the Exmouth & District Community Transport Group (EDCTG) to support them in their latest project of providing transport to the Exmouth Dementia Carers Support Group.

Bluebird Care has been working hard to support community groups across Exeter as well as providing a daily care service to local residents living in their own homes.

The award winning home care provider awarded the Community Grant to the EDCTG after receiving numerous applications for their £500 Grant from voluntary organisations and community projects across Exeter and East Devon.

The Community Transport Group were chosen by staff at Bluebird Care from a shortlist of other applications and the cheque for £500 was presented on behalf of Bluebird Care by Anna Howard, Senior Supervisor on Wednesday 18th May 2016.

We were inspired by the EDCTG’s link up with the Exmouth Dementia Carers Support Group. It is exactly the type of project we were looking to support – one that shares our understanding of how important ‘taking care of the carer’ is, especially for people caring for a loved one with Dementia”
said Anna Howard.

Established in 1990, the EDCTG is a local charity providing safe and friendly accessible transport enabling people to maintain their independence. Their motto is “Where Mobility Matters”.

Chairman of the Group, Jill Elson said:
We are very pleased to have been chosen by Bluebird Care for this grant. It means so much to our passengers to be able to get out, meet new people and visit a wide variety of destinations”.
Jean Thistlethwaite from the Dementia Carers Support Group added:
what a wonderful service we now have available to us…I am absolutely delighted that Bluebird Care has chosen EDCTG as the recipient of their Community Award
