Bluebird Care Exeter, an outstanding care provider, has recently embarked on a journey to enhance its commitment to dementia care.

The organisation has taken a significant step by enrolling its office staff to take part in the Alzheimer's Society training initiative Dementia Friends.

What is a Dementia Friend? A Dementia Friend is somebody who learns about dementia so they can help their community. Too many people affected by dementia feel that society fails to understand the condition they live with. Dementia Friends helps by raising awareness and understanding so that people living with dementia can continue to live in the way they want.

By engaging in the Alzheimer's Society training, Bluebird Care Exeter is actively working to equip its staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide compassionate and empathetic care to individuals with dementia. The training covers a range of topics, including understanding dementia, effective communication, and strategies for creating dementia-friendly environments.

The aim is that ALL members of the business will be registered as Dementia Friends. The sessions have also been added to our induction training week so all new members of staff will be Dementia Friends.

As our staff members gain a deeper understanding of dementia, they can tailor their approach to meet the unique needs of each individual, fostering a more positive and enriching caregiving experience.

This initiative not only benefits the organisation and its staff but also contributes to building a more compassionate and supportive community for our customers living with dementia.
