East Devon MP, Hugo Swire, marked Carers Week 2016 by meeting with Bluebird Care East Devon's customers and Care Assistants in West Hill and Ottery St Mary on Friday 10th June

The award winning care provider acknowledges how lucky they are to retain knowledgeable and highly skilled staff in such a competitive industry that traditionally has a high staff turnover rate.

Everyone at the presentation afternoon enjoyed a buffet lunch and took advantage of the opportunity to chat with Mr Swire, socialise and celebrate such a positive thing with their colleagues and customers.

Jasmine Broome, Business Leader of Bluebird Care East Devon said “I feel extremely proud of all the team would like to thank them for their passion, dedication and commitment to Bluebird Care. They all form an invaluable part of our team and without them we just couldn’t offer the outstanding care and support we do to people wishing to remain living independently in their own homes across East Devon.”

East Devon MP, Hugo Swire, marked Carers Week 2016 by meeting with Bluebird Care East Devon's customers and Care Assistants in West Hill and Ottery St Mary on Friday 10th June.

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.

Mr Swire began by meeting Mr and Mrs Deung in West Hill and their full-time Live In Care Assistant before presenting the awards at Bluebird Care’s Long Service Presentation at the Tumbling Weir Hotel. This quarterly event recognises, rewards and gives thanks to long serving Bluebird Care staff.

Mr Swire said:

‘It is important for me to mark Carers Week as East Devon contains a large number of carers and people who require care. Ensuring that these people receive the necessary support is one of our biggest local challenges.
‘Bluebird clearly provides an excellent standard of care to my constituents and I was delighted to celebrate with some of their staff as they reached important milestones with the company. These individuals carry out absolutely crucial but often difficult work so it was good to see this recognised and rewarded’.
