Bluebird Care Croydon wins BIG at London Care Awards

Bluebird Care Croydon employee Moya Kirwin was awarded the prestigious Dignity in Care Award at the London Care Awards last Saturday Night!

The organisation also picked up another record-breaking 8 finalist awards including a Highley Commended Award for Naomi Kennedy as Care Assistant of the Year.

Moya was up against all home care companies in Greater London for this major care awards event.

She commented; “I can’t believe that I have won, and I am very proud to win this award. I become a care assistant to make a difference to the lives of older people in Croydon who are struggling and need support. I am enjoying all aspects of being a care assistant and would recommend it as a great career. I enjoy my job immensely.”

Moya inspirited the judges with her dedication to deliver an individual, personalised support experience to each of her clients every day. Her passion, empathy, and motivation to make a difference, whilst remembering it is the little things that mean the most to us all made Moya stand out as the winner of this award.

The judges said: “Moya really showed what dignity in care actually means. She works on the frontline ensuring people get to live at home for longer. Moya was really humble in the difference she had made to peoples’ lives. She is an inspiration!”

Naomi Kennedy was awarded a Highley Commended by the judges in the Care Assistant of the Year category.

Bluebird Care Croydon were celebrating the winning of a main award along with five Finalist Awards at the Great British Care Awards - London Care Awards.

Other Bluebird Care Croydon finalists’ awards collected included: -

  • Winnie Johnson – The Palliative Carer Award

“We are absolutely thrilled that against tough competition we have again won awards at this major care awards event. The Great London Care Awards are part of the Great British Care Awards which celebrate excellence across the social care sector. The purpose of the awards is to promote best practice within both home care and care homes sectors, and pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.

Sector support includes Care England, The Department of Health, Alzheimer’s Society, The National Care Forum and The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) as well as local authorities and commercial organisations.

Bluebird Care is currently looking for 30 new care workers to join this award-winning team.

Bluebird Care was set up in Croydon in May 2010 by local Croydon resident, Dean Slade. Dean who previously worked at Croydon’s University Hospital witnessed first-hand the lack of high-quality flexible care in the home services and wanted to give something back to his local community. In little more than 6 years the Croydon office of Bluebird Care is now providing over 50,000 care visits a year. They employ over 70 local care staff which has provided a great number of new jobs to the Croydon area.

Bluebird Care is a national provider of care in the home, specialising in working with customers who live with dementia, physical disabilities and many other acute and chronic conditions. Bluebird Care work alongside their customers’ families, social services and the NHS to ensure each person receives the care they need.
