Dean Slade

Franchise Owner

The owner and director, Dean Slade, is involved in the day-to-day running of the business. Dean comes from a background in publishing management and has worked on publications such as 'Community Care'. Dean has also had experience working in the health service in Croydon, having worked for Croydon University Hospital and as an administration officer for the Croydon Family Practitioners Committee.

In February this year, Dean became a Dementia Friends Champion as part of the Dementia Friends programme. As a Dementia Friends Champion, Dean is a volunteer who encourages others to make a positive difference to people living with dementia within his community. Dean is now able to provide Dementia Friends Sessions within Croydon, where he can give information about the personal impact of dementia, and what people can do to help. If you are interested in attending an information session on living with dementia, please e-mail Dean on deanslade@bluebirdcare.co.uk.  

In his spare time, Dean enjoys sport. Achievements include having completed four London Marathons, and Dean is now a regular in the London to Brighton bike ride, helping to raise important funds for charity. He is also a FA level 1 football coach and manages an under 12's youth team.

Dean is passionate about customer service and delivering the best quality care to keep people in their own homes.

Mandy Sparkes

Registered Manager

Mandy joined Bluebird Care Croydon in July 2011 and brings with her many years of experience working in Health and Social Care. Her previous roles include Quality Assurance Officer and Compliance Officer. Mandy holds a certificate in Auditing for Compliance and has been responsible for ensuring the safe legal delivery of Residential and Domiciliary Care Services.  This has resulted in excellent knowledge of the Care Standards Regulations, policies and procedures.

Mandy is responsible for managing all office staff, recruiting care workers and providing training.  She holds an NVQ 2 in team leadership, a certificate in risk assessment and is a Manual Handling and Medication trainer. Many years in customer service and complaint management has made Mandy passionate about delivering the highest quality service to make a significant difference to people’s lives.

Mandy has been a finalist in the Great British Care Awards for Registered Home Care Manager of the Year 2012, 2014 and 2015. 

Nicola Pullen

Training Manager

Nicola supports our new carer assistants during induction and ongoing training and works on a one to one basis to help them though the care certificate.
Nicola started her career with Bluebird Care Croydon in 2015 as a care assistant and then progressed to team leader, but it was her passion for helping new staff to have the skills required to provide excellent care that led to her taking up a training role.

Aaron Slade

Recruitment Manager

Aaron is the son of Director Dean Slade, he has a wealth of business experience having been the General Manager for a leading travel company. Aaron was a finalist in the Great British Care Awards for Best Newcomer in 2017.
Aaron is passionate about the care sector and his key responsibilities are the recruitment of new care staff, HR and our care technology systems.

Veronica Robert

Live-in Desk Supervisor

Veronica started as a care assistant following a career in the banking sector. Veronica has demonstrated the delivery of an excellent care service to our customers and has been a mentor for new team members. Veronica's administration and organisational skills along with her enthusiastic approach to delivering the best care possible, made her an obvious choice to lead and support our team of care assistants. Veronica is a finalist in the 2018 London Care Awards for the Frontline Leaders Award.

Veronica now manages our live-in care service, providing a realistic alternative to a care home. 

Chelsie Hart

Care Coordinator

Chelsie’s role is to ensure the efficient administration of the office systems, supporting the Registered Manager and the rest of the office team. Chelsie also deals with customer enquiries to ensure they are directed to the best person to deal with any questions.
