Bluebird Care Croydon supports Carers Rights Day 2022

Bluebird Care Croydon is supporting Carers Rights Day 2022, organised by Carers UK on Thursday 24th November.

Each year, Carers Rights Day takes place to encourage carers in local communities to be aware of their rights and how to get the help and support they need.

This year’s theme is ‘Caring Costs’. The campaign hopes to encourage people to think about the wellbeing of unpaid carers’ and their ability to access health services. Sometimes it’s the financial costs associated with looking after someone – or the effects on carers’ employment options. Taking care of someone may cost carers the quality of their relationships, through not being able to take time out to spend with friends and family or through changes to the relationship with those they care for. And the current cost of living crisis is being felt even more acutely by carers throughout the UK.

According to Carers UK, 6.5 million people across the UK are carers, and with loved ones now living longer it is estimated that 6,000 individuals are becoming carers every day. Caring for someone is not easy and can affect your financial situation, relationships and health.

Carers UK has over 250 volunteers working hard across the UK to connect carers with their local communities through support groups. The charity is there to support individuals by listening, offering expert advice and informing you of your rights and entitlements as a carer.

Commenting, Dean Slade, Director of Bluebird Care Croydon said;

“It is important to us at Bluebird Care to support local carers in our area - so we are helping to raise awareness of carers’ rights with this campaign! It’s essential that all of our carers are aware of their rights and entitlements, which if they are new to caring they may not know about.”
