The Virtual Dementia Tour will be coming to us on November 8th 2016.

We are very excited to announce that the Virtual Dementia Tour will be coming to us on Thursday 8th November.

Last year 850,000 people were diagnosed and living with dementia and it is predicted that over 1 million people will be living with the condition next year. Many of our customers are living at home with different forms of dementia and we are committed to providing them with the best level of care to support them to live well. We are always looking for ways to improve awareness whether it be through our Dementia Friends sessions and internal training. The Virtual Dementia Tour is a brilliant training tool for our care staff to help us understand what it feels like to live with dementia.

The Virtual Dementia Tour was developed by P.K. Beville a specialist in dementia and care for the elderly. The tour takes away your primary senses to let you experience the fear and frustration dementia sufferers go through on a daily basis. Wearing gloves, glasses and headphones to change your sensory perception, you will experience what it is like to touch, hear and see when you are living with dementia, how just simple small tasks can seem strange and impossible.
