Four Key Nutrition & Hydration Tips

Looking out for the nutritional any hydration needs of our customers is extremely important and we are therefore supporting national Nutrition & Hydration Week from 11th - 17th March. The goal of Nutrition & Hydration Week is to bring people together to create energy, focus and fun in order to highlight and educate people on the value of food and drink in maintaining health and wellbeing in health and social care.

Throughout the week we are promoting various tips around nutrition & hydration with the aim of helping raise the profile of such an important element of our health.
We have put together four key tips, which include:
Aim to drink at least eight glasses of fluids per day.
A nutritious breakfast is a vital way to start the day.
Remember your five portions of fruit and veg each day.
Starchy carbohydrates should make up just over a third of the food that you eat.
These tips are part of the things we review with all customers when starting their care service and throughout the warmer months in particular, we always make sure that our customers are left with a glass of water to aid them in keeping hydrated.Care Manager Zoe explained that:
Nutrition and hydration is extremely important for our customers. Particular for those who we support with meals it is something that our team are very mindful of.
We promote good practices in relation to this throughout the care that we provide and every time that we visit a customer it is something that we are aware of.
