Jenny is a truly passionate Care Assistant and we are delighted to have recently spent some time with her hearing about the difference she makes and her wisdom for those wishing to pursue a career in care!

You can either read Jenny's story below, or find out more by watching the short interview which we have shared with you here:

Q: What made you choose to work in care
I chose to work in care because my nan encouraged me to do so and truly inspired me. She believed that I could do it and I really feel that I have made her proud!

Q: Tell us a little about your role
In my role I help people maintain their independence at home. I support them with things such as personal care, medication, making sure they have drunk enough and also do some cleaning such as hoovering and ironing from time to time.

Q: What was your first job in care?
My first job in care was with Bluebird Care and I have now been here for nearly five years!

Q: Can you remember what your first day was like?
My first day was very nerve wracking, but I threw myself right in.

This approach has certainly helped me be the person I am today; it has really helped with my confidence.

I was actually a shy person a five years ago and I have certainly grown in confidence since!

Q: Do you find your job rewarding?
My job is absolutely rewarding! If not, one of the most rewarding jobs you can have.

The feeling that you have when you leave a customer's house having helped them with something we take for granted every day really is the most satisfying feeling and puts a smile on your face.

The smile that you get really is one of the most rewarding feelings and it certainly puts you on cloud nine!

Q: What tip would you give someone considering a career in care?
A tip that I would give is to stay open minded and enjoy it. There are some bad moments, but the good outweighs them.

Even though you are working on your own, you are certainly not on your own. You are only a phone call away from others including the office team.

You will meet other Care Assistants at double handed calls and you should just enjoy it! Care is the most rewarding job, so you will feel great!
