This section will answer the frequently asked questions regarding Live-in Care Service with Bluebird Care Scarborough and Bridllington..

How much does Live-in care cost?

Our packages start from £1550 per week. This all depends on the complexity of the package.

What does the Live-in care assistant need?
A bedroom of their own. Ideally, some wardrobe space. Access to bathroom, washing and cooking facilities and ideally access to Wi-Fi so that they can right care notes and communicate to their friends and family for their mental wellbeing.
What about the care assistant's food?
The cares will receive a £40 food allowance a week and bring their food but will need some fridge/freezer space.
Do the carers need a break every day?
The care assistants will need a 2 hr break every 24 hrs worked. During this break, you can be left alone if it's safe to do so, have family or friends stay with you, or the Domiciliary carer come and sit with you if it's not safe for you to be left alone.
What do I do if I don't like my carer?
We will do regular checks on you to make sure you are happy, and if the carer is not the right match, you need to speak to the Live team, and we will do our best to try and change the carer.
Do we get to meet the carer beforehand?
We will always hand over the carer's number for you to have a good chat with them and ask them any questions. If they live near and we have time, we can have the carer come and meet you beforehand.
How does handover work?
We have a shadow where the carer overlaps with the current carer from a few hours up to 24 hours (if there is a spare bedroom) that you do not pay for but is part of our high-quality service.
Do I need to pick the carer up from the train station?
Many carers come from all over the country and can bring themselves to you. We tend to pick the carer up at the station, bring them, and introduce them to you. We will also take them back to the station as we at Bluebird like to look after our staff. We take the carer's food shopping at this point if they need to and provide them with PPE.
Do I have to provide Personal Protective Equipment?
No, we will provide Masks, gloves, aprons, shoe covers and Lateral flow tests for the carers.
My family live far away/ I have no family. Will someone be keeping an eye on things?
Our Live in team will pop in once a week to do a spot check on the carer and check in on your wellbeing and the carer's wellbeing. We top up PPE at this point as well.
What if I have pets?
We will match you up with a care assistant that is happy to come into a household with pets.
What chores can the carer do?
They can do personal care, medication and household chores like washing up, cooking, basic cleaning, shopping and take you out for activities and appointments.
What about petty cash?
You can have a tin with a financial transaction sheet and an agreed amount of money. The carer will do what shopping is arranged, leave the receipt, and fill in the form.
Who provides the bedding?
The customer does as some carers are non-drivers and will struggle to bring bedding on public transport.
Can the carer drive?
We have a mixture of drivers and non-drivers, but we can recruit specifically a driver in your area if this is what skill set you would like the carer to have.
What if my care needs to change, but I want to stay home?
Our nurses will help train the carers into complex care needs, e.g. suctioning, PEG feed and others that are required.
If your moving ability changes and you need 2 carers as you become bed bound or have equipment in place that needs 2 carers, then are Domicilary team will work with us so that we can have 1 carer coming and going to double up with the live in carers.
