Team member celebrated for "going above and beyond"

Amie Pilmoor, 23, has been the co-ordinator at Bluebird Care Rochdale for two years whilst studying for her Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3 qualification with Rochdale Training.

In that time, she demonstrated her thoughtfulness and care for others. She has assisted one customer of Bluebird’s beyond her job role, including finding someone to carry out a toilet repair, and making a courtesy call and evening meal.

Director John Keogh said: “We have a customer in Heywood, who has not been particularly well of late. 

“Her son was away on holiday and Amie, without being asked, went to our customer’s and made her tea.

“The son was unaware, but worried about his mum and when he found out, was very grateful that this had been done by one of our team.”

Amie also came to the rescue of someone recently who enquired if the company - due to its name - could find someone to look after their pet parrots whilst they were away. Undeterred, Amie sourced a solution and found a pet sitter for the caller, who also saw the funny side of their conversation and was able to get cover.

John added: “Amie’s done an admirable job in a difficult space. Trying to keep customers and staff happy by maintaining continuity of care is no mean feat.”

Claire Jennings, Amie’s mentor at Rochdale Training, added: “When Amie first signed up, she did a self-assessment and scored herself in the 'medium range' regarding knowledge and skills, although she had a clear idea of what she wanted to do and how the course will help her with her aims, she said 'my plans for the future are I would like to work my way up in the role and gain more responsibility'. 

“Amie has really grown since I first met her, she has developed confidence and I feel that she doubts herself much less than at the start.

“The first time I observed Amie was the day she had organised the Macmillan Coffee Morning day at the office, she and others had baked cakes and she was busy, engaging with locals, staff and family members at the office.

“Amie is always thinking of others and I feel this was a prime example. 

“As Amie approaches her end point assessment, I feel she has all she needs to do extremely well with this, I personally, am confident of her abilities and knowledge to be able to showcase how good she is at what she does.”
