Crispin Community FocusCrispin Community Focus promotes active living by hosting a huge range of clubs, classes and activities for the older people of Street and the surrounding villages.

They been given £250 by Bluebird Care Mendip, whose director Masen Naidoo said:

As well as providing care and companionship services to people living in their own homes, Bluebird Care is passionate about supporting community projects and initiatives.

We were deeply impressed by the work of Crispin Community Focus.”

The group’s manager Michaela Edmunds said the money would be spent on a Christmas party for all their volunteers to show how much they are appreciated.

She is the only full-time member of staff and the organisation based in Street’s Crispin Centre depends on their 29 volunteers. Michaela comments:

“We are extremely grateful to Bluebird Care for this grant and the recognition for all the work we do.”

They organise Tai Chi and Flexicise classes, Scrabble sessions, gardening club, talks, trips out and lots more.

Bluebird Care Mendip is making a grant of £250 every quarter to community groups or initiatives that are working with older people or are addressing the challenges of loneliness in Mendip.

The group or organisation that can best demonstrate a need for additional support will be allocated the funds. There is no restriction on how the money can be spent and no limit to the number of applications an organisation can make.
