The Hidden Monster

What’s white, highly addictive and bad for our bodies? It’s not what you first thought, its Sugar. There are 2 main types of sugar that we come across in our daily lives, there is naturally occurring sugar like lactose and then there is the bad stuff called ‘free’ sugars like table sugar. Some experts are now believing that it is sugar rather than fat in our diets that is contributing to the rising obesity crisis in our country.

5-a-day

In this day and age information regarding healthy eating is everywhere and a lot of the time each piece of information contradicts the last. As an average joe we are sometimes left with more questions than answers. However, most of us know deep down what is good for us and what is bad for us. We know which aisle in the supermarket contains the good stuff and which doesn’t and unless we have spent the last 30 years in a cave, we have all heard about the benefits of 5-a-day (the consumption of 5 portions of fruit and vegetables each day) although new studies suggest this should be more like 10-a-day.
