Bluebird Care JET service

Bluebird Care are joining forces with the NHS to reduce hospital admissions in the battle against COVID-19.

The Bluebird Care JET Service is helping in the fight against COVID-19 by easing congestion and maximising bed capacity in our local hospitals.

The JET (Joint Emergency Team) Service - in partnership with Mid Hampshire Healthcare and North Hampshire CCG - successfully ran during the winter months to take pressure off Basingstoke's North Hampshire Hospital.  It is now perfectly placed to again provide essential support to the NHS during the coronavirus outbreak.

The Bluebird Care JET Service provides rapid response, emergency care to patients with acute medical conditions (such as falls or UTIs) who can be treated in their own home, rather than having to be admitted to hospital unnecessarily. We will again work hand in hand with local hospitals, GPs and community nurses across the North Hampshire region.

Patients utilising the service are likely to be elderly or vulnerable who would usually be admitted to hospital if they became ill. The JET Service will instead see Bluebird Care step in to deliver the same high quality care in the community, reducing hospital admissions and freeing up vital beds and NHS staff for an influx of patients with coronavirus symptoms.

Treating people at home is also known to speed up their recovery and help patients return to independent living more quickly.

The service is available across 15 GP practices:

  • Beggarwood and NHUC
  • Bentley Village Surgery
  • Bermuda and Marlowe Partnership
  • Boundaries Surgery
  • Bramblys Grange Medical Practice
  • CGH (Camrose, Gillies & Hackwood) Partnership
  • Chawton Park Surgery
  • Chineham Medical Practice
  • Clift Surgery
  • Crown Heights Medical Practice
  • Odiham Health Centre
  • Tadley Medical Partnership

Phil Miles, Managing Director of Bluebird Care, said: “Our whole team are immensely proud to provide vital support to the NHS at such a critical time. The Bluebird Care JET Service was invaluable to our local community before and we know it will play a vital role in the fight against COVID-19.”

Philip Heiden, Director at Mid Hampshire Healthcare, said: “We are delighted to be working with Bluebird Care again. Companies like Bluebird really are the frontline help our NHS so badly needs. Health & Social Care working together really can beat this and provide excellent care to all patients”.
