Janice's Care Journey

Mum just wanted to be at home.

Janice started recieving care from Bluebird Care West Berkshire in September 2021, following a stroke and needing care visits 4 times a day.

Respite Care

Her daughter Claire discovered Bluebird Care, after Janice was on a waiting list for over a month, extending her stay in hospital and impacting on her mental wellbeing.

Once Claire took over the search to find care, she reached out to Bluebird Care West Berkshire's customer supervisor, Emma - to discuss Janice's care needs.

Mum just wanted to be at home.

Talking about what happened next, Claire commented:

During the assessment Emma could see the toll the stress was taking on me and my family and done anything she could to try and take the strain off of us. When I said to Emma that we have had enough so would have to try and work out funding the care ourselves to be able to get mum home, Emma instantly said that there may be a way around this and asked if I was happy for her to make some calls on our behalf, to which I consent. Emma left the assessment and went back to the office, within less than an hour of Emma leaving she called me back to inform me that she has arranged for Bluebird to provide the care and for the care to still be funded by the discharge team. This felt like such a weight had been lifted that I burst into tears on the phone to Emma.

Due to some of the complex care needs that Janice needed, Care Supervisor Emma organised some PEG/RIG training for the care team, as well as liaised closely with the hospital and local authority - taking away some of the stress for Claire and her family.

PEG Feeding

Within a couple of weeks of meeting Emma mum was back home where she belongs. We feel so lucky to have had met Emma and the rest of the Bluebird Team.
