What is domiciliary care?

Domiciliary care services are not just here to support you at home, but to support you to continue living your life, the way you want to.

What is domiciliary Care?

Home care also known as domiciliary care provides the extra support you need to keep you where you want to be - at home. Domiciliary care services can provide a helping hand with household chores, personal care, or a companionship visit. All of our home care services are tailored around your needs and it is a great way to stay at home instead of going to a residential care home.

Our domiciliary care services are not just here to support you at home, but to support you to continue living your life, the way you want to. We’re able to take you to doctors appointments, to the shops, to meet up with your friends and family, to support you to live an independent life.

Our home care services allow you, and your family, the peace of mind needed to keep you in your home.

How can home care help me?

Our home care service is tailored around each individual customer. At Bluebird Care, we are there to support you to continue living safely in your own home, surrounded by your belongings and memories.

Our flexible domiciliary care services can cover anything from a check-in visit to personal care to 24-hour or live-in care. Our home care service can be used for short term help following an illness or because your usual carer is having a break, or as the start of your care journey where it may develop to long-term home care and support. Our dedicated team of home care assistants are fully trained to:

  • Helping you start the day; getting up, washed, dressed and having a good breakfast
  • Support with medication; remind and assist you in taking medicines, as well as collect or return medication from your pharmacy or dispensing GP surgery
  • Mealtime; prepare meals with or for you and assist you at mealtimes
  • Outings; collect your pension for you or with you, shop with you or help you to make a shopping list, go to the shops, plus come back and put it all away
  • Household; help with your laundry or ironing and keep your home clean and tidy
  • Social outings; support you with social activities like going out for a walk, attending a day centre, visiting friends or family or going to your church or club
  • Personal care; a little pampering when you need it – the occasional visit to organise bathing, clean clothes, fresh bedding and a thoughtfully prepared meal before bedtime
  • At the end of each day, some help with getting ready for bed

Extra care to live life your way

Our aim is to make your homecare experience not just good, but great!  Bluebird Care strives to do more than meeting your physical needs and keeping you safe. We want to provide a service that enriches your life and gives you the fulfilment that you deserve.

Whatever our age or medical condition we all seek a life that is enriched with meaning and purpose. This is vital to our emotional and mental well-being. It maintains our sense of who we are and our self-esteem. Bluebird Care goes beyond the usual services that many homecare companies provide. We focus on what is important to you and how we can meet your spiritual, mind, body and familial needs.

A key part of our home care and support service is to get to know the unique qualities and characteristics of each customer. We want to know about your interests and hobbies and the experiences that light up your life.

We will then try and match you with a home care assistant who shares your interests. Being supported by someone who understands your passions gives that extra encouragement to keep your mind stimulated and your heart fulfilled.

How do i start my care journey?

At Bluebird Care West Berkshire, we understand that life can be can complicated at the best of times. That’s why we like to keep things as simple and straightforward as possible for our customers:

After initial contact, we’ll liaise with you to find the best time to visit you, and will work together with you and your family to create and agree on a care plan that suits your needs and budget.

You will be introduced to both your support professional, who will be responsible for developing and managing your overall support package, and talking through any worries you may have about aspects of your care, so that they don’t become persistent concerns.

Once we have mutually agreed your care plan, it will be delivered exactly as agreed. Our whole ethos is built around providing ‘good old-fashioned service’ that puts the heart back into home care. We will contact you on a regular basis to ensure you are happy with the service you are receiving, and review.

You will always know who is coming to deliver your care and we will keep you informed of any changes as and when necessary. Care needs change regularly; we’ll regularly review each customer’s care plan, and adapt in accordance with their wishes and needs.

Technology is a wonderful thing! At Bluebird Care our staff now follow digital care plans on their mobile devices using electronic care management software – a far more efficient, secure and reliable system than the paper ones it replaced.

Carers and management in my opinion are the best around by far. Very caring and very professional. The care company is definitely the best in my area. Would highly recommend them. Management has been wonderful and always supportive when you need them at the end of the phone.
