Here at Bluebird Care we have announced our biggest ever annual pay rise for our domiciliary care assistants for the 2nd year running of 10% to meet the cost of living.

Amidst a cost-of-living crisis that is impacting the lives of thousands across the UK, Care Assistants at Bluebird Care North Hampshire have received pay rises of 10% in recognition of their skill and dedication and to offer more support during these testing times.

The home care provider, who is rated ‘Outstanding’ for the ‘Well-led’ care standard, delivers high-quality care to their customers across parts of Hampshire. Helping older people and other vulnerable adults to live independent lives in the comfort and safety of their own homes, they play a vital role in the community.

Bluebird Care North Hampshire, which is run by Phil Miles and John Prendergast, are already well-known for their substantial annual pay rises in the care sector. And, following increases of up to 8% last year, on this occasion they have gone above and beyond for their team once again, with fresh pay rises coming into force on 21st March.

This now means Care Assistants at the home care provider will earn between £12 and £13.20 per hour, or up to a market-leading £31,449 a year for their most experienced Care Assistants.

Those looking to start a career in care will also benefit from these pay rises, with competitive wages of up to £29,950 for full time workers available alongside great pensions, benefits, and career development opportunities within a purpose-driven sector.

With both high living and fuel costs, the home care provider also pays a travel time rate of £10.44, alongside mileage, to support team members travelling to from customers’ homes.

The big news has been hugely welcomed by the team, including Care Assistant, Sarah, who said:

“It's great that Bluebird Care look after their team. Feeling valued is extremely important to me and although you don’t do this job for the money, we all have bills to pay at the end of the day - this is a good pay rise which will go a long way.”

Speaking about the pay announcement, Director at Bluebird Care North Hampshire & West Berkshire, Phil Miles, said:

“This year, we are delighted to be able to announce the biggest annual pay increase in our 15 years of trading for our domiciliary care teams. At the same time we have been increasing pay for office and live-in care staff during the year through individual reviews.

“This has been made possible by the huge amount of hard work by everyone in the company to continue to deliver the very highest standards of care and support to our customers in the most challenging of circumstances. This pay increase, combined with our unique salaried employment terms, will see our full-time Senior Care Assistants earn over £31,000 per annum for the first time which we feel rewards them appropriately for the outstanding job they do.”
