My career in care started around 20 years ago as a stop-gap whilst my children were young as I had planned to train as a nurse. However, domiciliary care came to mean so much to me. I had been working for another company but a role at Bluebird Care Teignbridge came up 10 years ago. In the beginning, I was working as a Care Assistant providing personal care to clients in their own homes. As I gained more experience and knowledge, I was given more responsibilities and became a Senior Care Assistant, a Care Co-ordinator and after two years I had become Care Manager and then the Registered Manager for Bluebird Care Teignbridge.

I am proud to say I worked my way through the ranks as I think it makes a massive difference to be able to say you have been there and understand how people feel for the first time in a new role. Having that experience makes all the difference and now I really enjoy seeing my team progress in their own care career pathways and watching them become more confident in themselves and their roles.

My role also involves overseeing the care provided by my team, ensuring that our customers receive the best care possible, and managing the day-to-day operations of the business. It’s a challenging role but one that I love and feel proud to be a part of.

Overall, my 10 years with Bluebird Care have been incredibly rewarding. I’m proud to be a part of an organisation that provides the highest quality care to our customers, and I look forward to continuing to work in this industry for many years to come. How lucky am I to be able to say that?

This is one of the most incredible jobs out there; it’s so rewarding and given the right support you will be able to grow.
