We had cake, coffee and a good old giggle!!! 😊

On Saturday 30th September our office team organised a coffee morning in support of Macmillan. The event was held at Winshill Resource Centre in Burton on Trent and was attended by approximately 40 people including Bluebird Care customers, their families, our care staff and members of the local community.

Staff baked and bought cakes which were sold at the event to raise money, the firm favourites included the Lemon sponge, Victoria sponge and the Coffee & Walnut which all flew of the shelf. As one of our customers is a celiac our Care Assistant Jackie Hawksworth very kindly baked a gluten free cake, so that he could join in on the event.

Our Care Coordinator, Louise Hawksworth organised a number of games and activities which included a Tombola, Raffle, and Quiz, unfortunately due to the event being so busy we ran out of time and were unable to host the Bingo.

Our Care Assistants gave up their time to pick up and drop off customers that had no other means of transport and it was wonderful to see such a good turnout.

We asked those that attended to complete a short feedback form based on their experience of the event. We asked, “What did you value most about today?” and the responses included:

Company.

N.C

Everyone was so friendly, coffee and cakes were very good

I.B

Mixing with ladies & gents who were disabled / had carers and helpers who were really enjoying themselves

L.W

The social atmosphere.

S.B

100% of those that provided feedback rated the event as 5 out of 5!

The leftover cakes were donated and delivered to 2 local care homes for the residents and staff to enjoy, by our Care Assistant Codie Hamilton.

We are delighted to have raised a whopping £407.00 which will be donated to Macmillan in support of the amazing work they do. A huge thank you to all those that attended and generously donated.

We are already looking forward to planning our next community event.
